DSL’s 2020 Highlights: How We Thrived
Despite the COVID-19 Pandemic

It cannot be denied that COVID-19 was a catalyst for the many changes that turned our lives upside down in 2020. The pandemic’s effects spanned countries, industries, and economies. The healthcare sector was the most affected as frontline workers man the battleground in the fight against widespread infections. However, some may argue that COVID-19 only accelerated the trends that we have too long been slow to adopt. One of which are home-based care models such as home health care and hospice care.

The need to socially distance and contain the spread of the virus paved the way for the rapid increase in the demand for home-based care. Consequently, this led to the rise of technological solutions, particularly virtual care and remote patient monitoring technologies, which enabled providers to still care for patients while keeping their staff safe. The domino effect of these phenomena has driven Data Soft Logic’s growth in the recent year.

DSL has made 11 major improvements in  Hospice Centre.

We not only strive to create new partnerships, but also to continuously improve the experience of our existing clients and make sure their daily operational needs are met. In 2020, Data Soft Logic outperformed the IT services industry retention benchmark of 81% with our client retention rate of 92%. This can be attributed to our initiatives to continuously improve and innovate our solutions reinforced with better customer service and support. Within 2020, we made the following improvements in Hospice Centre which aim to make life easier for our partners and patients.

1. CAHPS Direct Submission
Some CAHPS vendors have partnered with Hospice Centre allowing direct submission of their data for expired patients without going through a download-upload process.

2. Wound Note
Hospice Centre's Wound Note feature is now more comprehensive as it was designed based on Wound Care Certification recommendations.

3. 999 Viewer
Hospices can conveniently generate pre-billing 999 files to identify possible points of claim denials prior to submission.

4. IDT Scheduler
You can plot and align the IDT schedule for an entire benefit period for better compliance.

5. Telehealth
This additional software feature allows hospices to conduct telehealth sessions when on-site visits are not possible nor practical.

6. Case Load Report
You can now extract reports which show case load distribution by discipline to facilitate more informed patient assignment decision-making.

7. COVID Monitoring Reports
On top of case load reports, you can also generate reports to monitor your staff and patients' possible exposure to COVID-19, thereby reducing risks of contamination.

8. 837 Validation
With this integrated claims processing feature, you may now check for possible errors which prevent successful claims submissions.

9. Bereavement Module
Hospice Centre's Bereavement Module is the most robust in the industry as it allows agency-customization of risks, interventions, and letter templates to comply with CoPs as well as plotting of scheduled interventions up to 12 months to support grieving survivors.

10. Non-Covered Items Addendum
This compliance-augmenting feature, which is only available on Hospice Centre, automates, eases, and assists hospices in generating the Election Statement Addendum within the required timeframes.

11. Braden Scale
This SmartNote helps disciplines predict the probability of a patient developing a pressure injury. It has also been made more intelligent with dropdown choices, auto-scoring, and auto-summing for quick risk assessment results.
